Benefits of the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program

Clean energy home

More and more homeowners are looking for ways to save energy and conserve water. As we make our homes more energy-efficient, we can conserve resources and save on utility bills. For homeowners wanting to make these types of upgrades to their homes, but are unsure how to afford the expense, Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs are a great option.

What is a PACE program for homeowners?

Property owners can use PACE financing to cover 100 percent of the costs involved in installing eligible projects, including all related equipment, materials and labor, as well as soft costs. Eligible improvements include energy efficiency, water conservation, renewable energy generation, and resiliency upgrades.1

According to Joe Canosa, general manager at Lindstrom Air Conditioning & Plumbing, “Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) funding done right allows Florida homeowners to implement improvements without a large up-front cash payment. Property owners that voluntarily choose to participate in a PACE program repay their improvement costs over a set time period—typically five to 15 years—through property assessments, which are secured by the property itself and paid as an addition to the owners’ property tax bills. With no FICO requirements, your credit score won’t impact your ability to qualify. And when your project is complete, your PACE assessment doesn’t appear on future credit reports.”

Qualifying PACE upgrades in Florida include heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems and high-efficiency water heating systems. Updating to an energy-efficient cooling system can have a big effect on your utility bills as half of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling.2 By replacing an older water heater you’ll save on energy and conserve water.

If you are in the market for new appliances for your home, now is a great time to take advantage of the PACE programs available in Florida. At Lindstrom Air Conditioning & Plumbing, we’re happy to answer your questions about PACE programs as well as help you make decisions on the best heating/cooling and water heating systems for your home.
